Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina (1977)
The Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina is indeed a special variant of the 308 series. “Vetroresina” translates to fiberglass in Italian, and it signifies that the body of this particular 308 GTB is constructed from fiberglass rather than steel. This was a limited production run, and these models are sought after by collectors for their lighter weight and unique characteristics.
Produced in the late 1970s, the 308 GTB Vetroresina is powered by a mid-mounted 2.9-liter V8 engine. It’s known for its distinctive wedge-shaped design, pop-up headlights, and the iconic Ferrari rear mid-engine layout. The fiberglass construction was a departure from the later steel-bodied 308s, contributing to its agility and performance.
In terms of performance, the 308 GTB Vetroresina offered a top speed of around 155 mph (250 km/h) and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 6.5 seconds.
These cars have become prized among Ferrari enthusiasts for their rarity and unique features. If you’re lucky enough to own one or have the opportunity to drive one, you’re in for a treat!
