The Ferrari F8 Spider is a convertible sports car that was introduced by Ferrari in 2020 as a successor to the Ferrari 488 Spider.
Design: The F8 Spider shares its platform and many design elements with the F8 Tributo coupe. It features a retractable hardtop that can be opened or closed in just 14 seconds and operates at speeds of up to 45 km/h (28 mph). When the roof is retracted, the F8 Spider showcases its sleek lines and aerodynamic profile. The car’s overall design emphasizes both performance and aesthetic appeal, with aggressive styling cues and distinctive Ferrari characteristics.
Engine and Performance: The F8 Spider is powered by a mid-mounted 3.9-liter V8 engine equipped with twin-turbochargers. This engine is based on the award-winning powerplant found in the 488 Pista, albeit with some improvements. In total, it produces a remarkable 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. The F8 Spider can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds, and it has a top speed of around 340 km/h (211 mph).
Transmission and Handling: Ferrari equips the F8 Spider with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (F1 DCT) that delivers quick and seamless gear changes. The transmission works in harmony with the car’s advanced aerodynamics, electronic differential, and various stability control systems to enhance performance and handling. The F8 Spider also benefits from Ferrari’s Side Slip Angle Control system, which allows drivers to experience controlled oversteer and drift maneuvers on the track.
