Built to commemorate Subaru’s 40th anniversary and its third consecutive manufacturer’s title in the World Rally Championship, the car was rebuilt from the ground-up with a host of new parts. This Subaru Impreza STi 22B is an impressive, low-mileage example of the highly sought-after rally-derived performance car. Under the bonnet is the turbocharged 2.2-litre ‘EJ22G’ flat-four producing 276bhp, which is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Subaru created 400 domestic market 22Bs, all of which reportedly sold out within 48 hours of the release announcement, and a further 24 cars for export markets. The 22B is easily distinguished from other Subaru Imprezas of the era by its wide body which took inspiration from the Peter Stevens designed WRC car. The wider body increased the overall width of the car by a substantial 80mm.

The 2.2-litre engine. Hand-built, it developed 267bhp and 265lb/ft of torque. A twin-plate ceramic metal clutch was used, helping those figures manifest themselves as a 0-62mph time of around 4.7 seconds and a standing quarter in 13.5 seconds.

We are very proud to offer, what is without doubt, one of the nicest original Subaru Impreza 22B’s available that has had a no expense spared restoration by Subaru MD to make this one of the very best example's available worldwide. This 22B is a superb offering, from top to bottom. One of the best examples we have ever seen and a collectors grade example that must be seen to be appreciated and rarely come to the market. As with every example, this Impreza STi 22B is finished in the iconic hue of Sonic Blue over a two-tone black and blue cloth-trimmed interior, offset by red accent stitching.  It rides on the correct set of 17-inch gold-painted BBS alloy wheels, which frame red brake callipers and are shod in Correct brand new OE spec Pirelli P Zero tyres

Moving inside, the cabin upholstery is original and in stunning condition, reflecting the very low mileage. Factory-fitted equipment includes electrically operated windows and mirrors, air conditioning, a driver-controlled centre differential, an intercooler water spray function, and a Sony stereo. The blue and black cloth upholstery still looks almost new with no wear, tear or bobbling. The door cards, headlining, dashboard, and controls are all in outstanding condition and have been subject to a Nano interior protection.
